Family planning in Pennsylvania provides services, information and counseling on health care for women, men, and teens. There is a family planning agency near you. Services are free or low-cost and are always confidential.
Find the Agency Near You: Women between the ages of 18-44 who meet eligibility criteria may apply to the SelectPlan for Women for free family planning services. Services Available For Women: - Safe and effective methods of contraception (birth control)
- Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and condoms for prevention
- HIV testing (the virus that causes AIDS) and prevention education
- Pregnancy testing, client centered options counseling and referrals
- Breast cancer screening and education on breast self-exams
- Testing for cervical cancer (a Pap test)
- Testing for diabetes, high blood pressure and anemia
- Gynecological exam (a gyn exam)
Services Available For Men: - Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and condoms for prevention
- HIV testing (the virus that causes AIDS) and prevention education
- Testicular exams and education about testicular cancer
- Information on safe and effective contraception for you and your partner
About the Program: The education, medical and social services made available under this program enable individuals to determine family size, voluntarily space children and prevent or reduce unplanned pregnancies. The services are provided through grants with four private, nonprofit corporations called Family Planning Councils. These corporations provide services in 250 clinics throughout the state. The clinics are operated by hospitals, health centers and family planning agencies. |
