    Assisted Living What’s New Updates

    Periodically, the Department will update this webpage to highlight changes regarding Assisted Living. Below readers will see the date of an update and a description of the update/addition/change. Please check back from time to time for new updates.

    07/09/2012The Administrator Competency Test for the 15-hour Assisted Living Administrator Training Course is now available. The competency test is an online test that contains 25 random questions. A score of 75% or higher is needed to pass the test. The test is located on the Long Term Living Training Institute’s (LTLTI) secure website. In order to access the test, a student must have a userid and password given to them by the LTLTI. Userids and passwords will be emailed to students following completion of the 15-hour Assisted Living Administrator Training Course at an approved training institute. If you have taken the 15-hour Assisted Living Administrator Course in the past, you should receive an email informing you that the course in now available and information on accessing the test. If you do not receive this email, please contact our office at 717-772-2570 and provide us with your name and correct email address.

    04/05/2012The Department has scheduled another Assisted Living Administrator Orientation class for May 2, 2012 at the PA Child Welfare Training Center in Mechanicsburg.  For more information, please go to the Administrator Orientation training link.
      
    03/15/2012The Department has scheduled another Assisted Living Administrator Orientation class for May 31, 2012 at the Penn State Beaver campus.  For more information, please go to the Administrator Orientation Training link.
      
    03/15/2012The Assisted Living Reportable Incidents and Conditions form was updated to reflect the change in email domain for submittig incident reports via email.  ALR-Incident-Complaint@state.pa.us has been changed to ALR-Incident-Complaint@pa.gov.
      
    01/24/2012The Department has scheduled another Assisted Living Administration Orientation class for 02/28/2012 at Country Meadows Bethlehem Campus.  For more information, please go to the Administration Orientation Training Link.
      
    01/03/2012The Checklist for Initial Application for Assisted Living License was updated to add an additional policy on the Excludable Conditions/Exception Request Form and Process and, clarification was added regarding acceptable verification for proof of water source.
      
    01/03/2012The Assisted Living Resident Rights poster was updated to correct two minor typographical errors.
      
    12/14/2011 The Department has approved an additional Assisted Living Residence Administrator training provider, Penn State, The Lancaster Center.  Please refer to the Administrator Training Information web page for more information.
      
    11/30/2011The Department has approved an additional Assisted Living Residence Administrator training provider, Harrisburg Area Community College.  Please refer to the Administrator Training Information web page for more information. 
      
    11/08/2011The Department has posted a new "Assisted Living Frequently Ask Questions" document to the Frequently Asked Questions Link.  This version combines questions from previously posted documents and provides updated responses.

    The Department has posted several requests for an assisted living regulatory waiver on the “Regulatory Waiver Requests & Public Comments on Waiver Requests” web page.

     05/09/2011 The Department has added a new webpage for Assisted Living Administrator Training Information.  Over time this webpage will contain links to information on initial and on-going training programs for assisted living residence administrators.  Today a brochure has been added for the abbreviated administrator training course required per 2800.64(a)(2) that is applicable for those administrators that have previously taken the Department-approved 100-hour Personal Care Home (PCH) administrator training course.  This abbreviated course addresses those new training topics unique to assisted living that are not part of the 100-hour PCH course.

    04/04/2011Changes to the Checklist for Initial Application for Assisted Living License include:
    • Clarification to what to submit regarding staffing patterns, shifts and duties of staff hired and to be hired.
    • The addition of a current staff list of staff hired, including name, position and date of hire.
    • Clarification on what to submit regarding education and training qualifications which include copies of diplomas, degrees, licenses, etc.
    • Policy on Informed Consent.
    04/04/2011 Changes to both the Resident Assessment and Support Plan Forms include two questions related to a resident's ability to safely use poisonous materials.
