    Telephone Assistance Programs

    You Can Get Help to Lower the Cost of Your Telephone Service!

    Lifeline is a program that provides reduced telephone costs to customers of qualified telephone services. Act 183, signed into law on Nov. 19, 2004, and effective on Dec. 1, 2004, expanded eligibility to recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Federal Public Housing Assistance, Medical Assistance, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program  or the National School Free Lunch Program. You can apply for some of these programs online using COMPASS.
