Participation Review Bed Requests

Nursing facility bed requests are reviewed bi-annually and decisions are rendered based on the Statement of Policy Annex A published in the Pa. Bulletin, April 3, 2010 issue. Bed requests are batched into review groups based on the year and date of receipt in accordance with the Statement of Policy. Group 1 consists of bed requests received from January 1 through June 30 of a given year with best efforts made to render a decision by December 31 of the same year. Group 2 consists of bed requests received from July 1 through December 31 of a given year with best efforts made to render a decision by June 30 of the following year. Bed request decisions are as follows:

Participation Review Exception Requests

Below is a listing of all nursing facility exception request decisions issued since the inception of the participation review process in 1998. The requests are reviewed biannually and decisions rendered based on the guidelines listed in the nursing facility exception request statement of policy published at 28 Pa.B. 1138 (January 10, 1998).

Exception requests are batched into review groups based on the year and date of receipt by the Department. Group One consists of exception requests received from January 1 through June 30. Best efforts are made to issue decisions on these requests by December 31. Group Two consists of exception requests received from July 1 through December 31. Best efforts are made to issue decisions on these requests by the following June 30.
